Description
OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH is a semi-transparent or transparent interior wood finish. In one simple application it produces a rich professional satin finish which can be polished for higher sheen.

OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH is natural oil/wax based and micro-porous, (allowing the wood to breathe). It will not crack, flake, peel or blister. It is water-repellent and dirt-resistant, and will not suffer from water marks. Dirt can easily be removed. It has been used for decades in rooms with high moisture content like kitchens and bathrooms.
OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH has a creamy consistence (thixotropic) and very easy to apply. It requires little or no maintenance.
The dried surface is resistant against wine, beer, cola drinks, coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk and water according to DIN 68 861-1C (German Industrial Norm).
OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH Clear Extra Thin is clear and satin-matt. It is more liquid and can also be applied by dipping or spraying in professional application plants. It penetrates deeply into the wood and is particularly well suited for the treatment of dark hardwoods like Jatoba, Meranti, Wengé, Merbau, Ebony etc. (f. i. on floors).
Product based on natural oil and wax
OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH is based on natural vegetable oils and waxes. Natural oils and waxes penetrate deeply into the wood, keeping it elastic and healthy, and preventing it from getting dry and brittle. Shrinking and swelling are reduced. The wood is allowed to breathe. Moisture can evaporate.
Health and environment
OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH does not contain biocides nor preservatives. It is safe for man, animal and plant when dry and complies with German DIN 53 160 (fast to perspiration and saliva) and EURO Norm EN 71 (suitable for children's toys). Test certificates available.
The principle of OS COLOR to manufacture and supply only products which are safe and environmentally friendly during production as well as for application resulted in the successful certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality management) and DIN EN ISO 14001
(environmental management) by the TÜV (Technical Control Board) Rhineland.
Uses
All interior wood surfaces: panellings, ceilings, cornices, beams, furniture, doors, table tops, toys. Also usable for all kinds of wooden floors (please see OS COLOR HARDWAX-OIL). Especially recommended for rooms with high moisture content (kitchens, bathrooms, etc.).
Can also be used for touching-up painted or varnished surfaces. Applicable on all wood species, also laminated wood, hardboard, OSB (oriented strandboard) and cork (all without primer) .
Colour Range
OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH is available in a range of natural wood
shades to match the most commonly used wood species, and two clears (normal and extra thin).
OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH is semi-transparent. The final appearance of the finish will therefore be influenced by the natural colour of the wood. Best results are normally achieved with corresponding or slightly darker shades or clear. Light shades should only be used for light new wood. (Trial application recommended). All shades are intermixable.
When using several cans with different batch numbers please mix together in one large container to ensure uniform coloration.

Rough or striated wood in general needs more material due to its surface structure.
Surface preparation
Wood surface must be clean, dry (maximum moisture content 20 %) and frost-free.
Furniture finish: surface recommended to be sanded down to desired degree of smoothness - carefully remove all dust. Previously stained wood (micro-porous stains): surface must be cleaned or slightly sanded.
Old paints and varnishes must be removed (by OS COLOR PAINT REMOVER or by sanding).
If in good state and only requiring a little touching up: clean with cloth or sand lightly.
Wood tending to attract blue stain (f. i. pine in rooms with high humidity) pre-treat with one coat of OS COLOR WOOD PROTECTOR (biocidefree) up to one week before applying a final coat of WOOD WAX FINISH.
Compatibility
Can be applied over all OS COLOR WAXES, OS COLOR ONE COAT ONLY and other micro-porous stains and OS COLOR WOOD PROTECTOR. (biocide-free).
Corrosion
In areas of high humidity the use of galvanized, non-oxidizing nails and fasteners is recommended
Method of application
By brushing, brushing machine or with cloth. Clear Extra Thin: brushing, dipping and spraying in professional application plants.
OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well . Apply a thin coat evenly and thoroughly with stiff quality brush or cloth along wood grain on clean, dry surface.
If a deeper shade is desired, a second
thin coat can be applied, allowing 12 hours drying time between coats.
To obtain a higher sheen the dry surface can be polished with a dry, clean cotton cloth or OS COLOR polishing pad (ultra fine steel wool grade 000) or scotch pad.
Where possible apply on all sides of the wood before installation
Floors
For the clear treatment of wooden flooring (also cork or OSB) we recommend our OS COLOR HARDWAX-OIL which has been especially developed for this purpose. It makes flooring very resistant against abrasion and dirt as well as water-repellent.
Because of the hard wear these surfaces are exposed to, two coats are recommended.
For oak and other hardwood floors a clear treatment is recommended. For dark hardwoods (Jatoba, Wengé, Meranti, Ebony, Merbau, etc.) use OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH Clear Extra Thin.
Transparent treatment
1. Apply a coat of OS COLOR WOOD WAX FINISH TRANSPARENT, remove surplus and leave to dry over night providing good ventilation (Trial application recommended).
Finish with OS COLOR HARDWAX-OIL (compare product information No. 2)
Cork floors:
Apply very thinly with a large varnish scraper. Then, after at least 24 hours, apply second coat also very thinly. Leave to dry at least 24 hours and
If possible treat cork tiles before laying in order to avoid overlapping treatment of the edges which could prolong drying considerably.
Can be polished for more shine after thorough drying.
OS COLOR FINISHES dry by oxidation. Surface will become tougher and more resistant in about 2 to 3 weeks.
Cleaning of tools
With OS COLOR Brush Cleaner (benzole-free) or white spirit.
Drying time
approx. 12 hours (provide good ventilation); dust dry after approx. 6 hours.
Maintenance
Little or no maintenance. If desired apply another coat on clean, dry surface as above.
Floors: for daily cleaning use duster, mop or vacuum cleaner. Heavily soiled surfaces can also be cleaned with water (containing OS COLOR WASH AND CARE). Heavy stains: remove with OS COLOR Liquid WAX CLEANER.This will also freshen up the surface. Apply a further thin coat of OS COLOR HARDWAX-OIL when the surface starts looking dull.
Damage: clean worn or damaged area with OS COLOR POLISHING PAD in Clear Extra Thin No. 1101 or OS COLOR Liquid WAX CLEANER (or by sanding if necessary) - let dry - apply one coat of OS COLOR HARDWAX-OIL- leave to dry over night and polish over with OS COLOR LIQUID WAX CLEANER. You will see no repair marks or overlapping.
Storage
Can be stored up to 5 years or more if can is full and tightly closed. Store in dry place. If thickened by frost it will regain normal consistency under normal temperatures within 24-36 hours.

50-60 % solids content (Clear Extra Thin 40% )
Base: natural vegetable oils and waxes (carnauba wax, candelilla wax, sunflower oil, thistle oil, soybean oil); iron oxide and organic pigments, titanium dioxide (white pigment), all offically approved for use in the food sector; water-repellent additives; siccatives;
solvent: disaromatized white spirit (benzolefree - in compliance with purity demands of the European Pharmacopoeia).

Caution
Keep out of the reach of children. Do not fill into containers normally used for food and drink. Work in areas with good ventilation. Do not apply in the presence of naked flames, hot surfaces or unprotected electrical equipment. In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water.
Wash out any used cloth immediately or store in airtight container (danger of combustion).
