Additional Information

Treatex Cedar Oil penetrates deeply into timber surfaces and, in a similar way to bark, attaches to the wood capillaries providing protection against extreme climate conditions. This product is manufactured on a base of natural sustainable raw materials: sunflower oil, safflower oil and soybean oil. Treatex Cedar Oil is designed for use on timbers like cedar and larch. It is not suitable for timbers which contain tannins, such as oak. Treatex Cedar Oil is the ideal finish for cladding, doors, windows and other exterior joinery.

  • Easy to apply
  • UV resistant
  • Highly water resistant
  • Contains no biocides or toxic ingredients
  • Safe for use on children’s toys
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
  • Will not flake or peel

Container Size and Coverage

Available in 2.5 litres which covers approximately 35m2 one coat depending on timber and method of application.

Preparation

Treatex Cedar Oil works best on unfinished timber. Previous finishes which stop Treatex Cedar Oil penetrating into the timber (e.g. paint and other ‘closed’ finishes)    must be fully removed prior to application. Previous porous finishes should be lightly sanded before overcoating. When overcoating a previously finished surface, a trial application is essential. Flaking or peeling finishes must be fully removed prior to application. Ensure the timber is dry and free from possible contaminates e.g. algae, grease, dirt, dust etc. Timbers susceptible to decay, mould and fungi should be treated first with a suitable preservative. We advise that when using Treatex Cedar Oil, sufficient product is purchased to complete the whole project and when more than one tin is required it is advisable to mix them together before use. Timber must have a moisture content below 18%. Temperature must be greater than 8°C during application and drying. We strongly recommend a trial application prior to starting the project.

Application of Treatex Cedar Oil

Stir tins thoroughly, before and during use. Use a brush or roller to evenly apply Treatex Cedar Oil in the same direction as the wood grain, allowing approximately 60-70ml per m². Pay particular attention to end grain, on end grain apply liberally. After approximately 12 hours the first coat can be overcoated. Apply with a brush or roller a second coat of Treatex Cedar Oil, again allowing roughly 60-70ml per m². After the second coat leave for approximately 12 hours to dry.

Tips

Treatex brushes and rollers are available. Wet brushes and rollers can be cleaned with Treatex Thinner or white spirit. Store tins in a cool and frost free environment. Unopened tins will last for five years. Once tins are opened, transfer contents to smaller airtight container.

Regular cleaning is the key to keeping your wooden, laminate & vinyl floors at its best. By following our step-by-step instructions on preventive care measures and daily floor care, your floor will retain its beauty for years to come.

General Floor Care Tips

  • Use water sparingly while cleaning your wooden floors. Make sure to soak up liquid spills immediately as excessive water causes the floors to swell.
  • Avoid wax, vinegar and “all-purpose” cleaners, since they dull the floor’s finish.
  • Do not let sand, dirt or grit build up. Vacuum or sweep your floors once every week.
  • Place mats or rugs near doorways and in high trafficked pathways to trap sand and grit.
  • Use protective pads or caps on furniture.
  • Trim your pet’s claws to help avoid scratches on the floor.

Regular Floor Care

  1. When your floor looks dirty, spray it with the appropriate Floor Cleaner to dissolve the dirt.
  2. Wipe the floor clean using a Microfibre Cleaning Pad on your Mop.
  3. Rinse the pad in water as it becomes soiled and wring it thoroughly before continuing to clean. Excessively soiled pads may be laundered.

Periodic Maintenance

  1. Vacuum the floor carefully. Clean it using the appropriate Floor Cleaner and a Microfibre Cleaning Pad on your Mop.
  2. Apply the appropriate Floor Polish* or Refresher** with an Applicator Pad. Apply one even coating over the whole floor. Let dry for at least 2 hours.
