What is the difference between engineered wood and laminate flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is made up of real hardwood veneer on top of layers of plywood, softwood or hardboard, giving the look and feel of hardwood with better stability. Laminate flooring, on the other hand, is a synthetic material that mimics the look of wood using a high-resolution image layer protected with an additional wear layer. Although they both provide durability, laminate relies on printed images, whereas engineered wood has genuine wood top layer, making it look more realistic.
